Dr. Creed will lead us on a celebratory tour of sites important to the Reformation & Martin Luther. The guided tour will include visits to Frankfurt, Eisenach, Leipzig, Berlin and other significant cities. We will also have the opportunity to explore traditional German Christmas Markets, known for their vibrant colors & history.

Nine-day tour includes:

Itinerary

DAY 1: DEPART USA
We depart the USA today on our overnight, transatlantic flight to Frankfurt, Germany. Meals and snacks are served on board.

DAY 2: ARRIVE FRANKFURT
Upon arrival at the airport in Frankfurt, we are greeted by our World Cultural Tours Representative who escorts us to our private motor coach. We enjoy a guided tour of Frankfurt, followed by check-in at our hotel. We have our Welcome Dinner together this evening.

DAY 3: FRANKFURT – MAINZ – FRANKFURT
This morning after breakfast, we have a guided excursion to Mainz, where we see the birthplace of printing with a guided tour of the Gutenberg Museum. We continue our tour through Mainz to see the beautiful squares and houses, along with visits to St. Martin’s Cathedral and St. Stephen Church (time permitting). This afternoon, we return to Frankfurt to enjoy a Presidential Dinner with Dr. Creed at a local restaurant.

DAY 4: FRANKFURT – EISENACH
Following our breakfast this morning, we check-out of our hotel. We attend a worship at St. Nicholas Church (subject to confirmation). Afterwards, we transfer by motor coach to Eisenach, birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach. Upon arrival, we have time for an independent lunch. After lunch, we partake in a guided city tour, including a visit to the Luther House Museum. We continue to our hotel for check-in. This evening, we have free time to enjoy the Christmas Markets and have dinner on our own.

DAY 5: EISENACH
After our breakfast at the hotel, we make a short drive to visit the formidable Wartburg Castle where Luther found refuge during the Imperial Ban. At the Castle we have free time to explore the Christmas Market Square and enjoy lunch on our own. This afternoon, we visit the Bach House, and attend a concert here. We return to our hotel for dinner on our own this evening and time to enjoy the Christmas Markets at our leisure.

DAY 6: EISENACH – ERFURT – LEIPZIG
This morning after breakfast, we check out of our hotel and drive to the historic town of Erfurt, where Luther studied. Upon arrival, we enjoy a guided city tour including visits to the Cathedral, the Church of St. Severi’s, and the Augustinian Monastery. We have time for lunch on our own and the chance to explore the medieval city center and Christmas Market. We continue to Leipzig and check-in to our hotel upon arrival. This evening, we have time to explore the Christmas Markets at our leisure and dinner under our own arrangements.

DAY 7: LEIPZIG – EISLEBEN – LEIPZIG
After breakfast this morning, we depart for Eisleben, site of Luther’s birth and death. Upon arrival in Eisleben, we have a guided city tour, including visits to the house of Luther’s birth, the house where he died, the Church of St. Peter and Paul, as well as St. Andrews Church. Following our tour, we have free time for an independent lunch. After lunch, we return to Leipzig for a guided city tour. Our sightseeing includes St. Thomas Church, the Renaissance Town Hall, site of the Luther debates and Bach Memorial. We dine on our own this evening.

DAY 8: LEIPZIG – WITTENBERG – BERLIN
Following breakfast this morning, we check out of our hotel and transfer to Wittenberg, the birthplace of Reformation. We visit All Saints Castle Church, the university where Luther taught, Melanchton’s House as well as Luther House, which is the largest and greatest museum of reformation history in the world. We end with a visit to Stadtkirche of St. Marien where Luther used to preach and see the Luther Monument and Renaissance Town Hall. We have free time for shopping and independent lunch at the market square. Prior to our evening transfer to Berlin, we enjoy our Farewell Dinner. Upon arrival in Berlin, we check in to our hotel, conveniently located near the airport. We have one last night to explore the Christmas Markets at our leisure.

DAY 9: DEPART BERLIN – ARRIVE USA
This morning after breakfast, we check out of our hotel and transfer to the airport for our return flight home to the USA.
